Alright you are probably wondering how I am doing. Glad to report I am still here and feeling really good and lighter. Throughout my impromptu adventure I took on with my sister on juicing I may have lapsed twice but it was good for me. My mind has a new way of thinking about food. I never thought I would put to use the juicer my mother gave me a year a go to all the use I have put it under in the past 9 days. As mothers day is approaching I am looking forward to enjoying some nice homemade BBQ, as per mothers request.
Advice I can give you. When you decide to make this step or decision about changing how you eat make sure you are fully committed to it. Doing things half ass, {excuse my language} is probably not going to yield the intended results of juicing. You should also include 30min walks or jogs or cardio workout into it as well. Oh and don't forget to drink PLENTY of WATER! That is a def must. Be ready to be going to restroom lots.
Question is would I do this again? Yes I most definitely will. I think that I have gained a lot of understanding out how to use our fruits and vegetables to keep our stomach clean and healthy. Did I experience some weight loss? Honestly, I didn't weigh myself nor was that my number one goal. I wanted to simply clean my stomach of dirty toxins to be able to start a new healthy plan the right way. But to each their own.
I encourage you to watch the movie I mentioned in my previous post and I wish you nothing but success in all that you do. When you are happy, everyone around you is happy. At least that is my motto.
Have a great day!
Welcome!
I hope you enjoy my blog. I will write from a wide range of subjects from politics to fashion to family and food. But, primarily I will share with you my most happy and sad moments of my life that I enjoy embracing and sharing.

Day 3 & 4- Harder than 1&2
Alright, so my day 3 was a tough one. Sunday is Family Funday and well, we have had celebrations every Sunday. I may have lapsed a little....but that is okay because I know where my weakness is.
On Day 3 I started with a carrot juice with come celery and lots of water. I fasted for breakfast because I do not eat before Mass. Then...I lapsed....won't even go there. But had my full consumption of water, a gallon. I even played some kickball with my cousins like the old days.
All I can say is cheating is NO BUENO but I got a grip of it. I am excited to begin this day 4 of my challenge. I made my own juice made with celery, cucumber, carrots and raspberries. I used a different juicer so it tastes a WHOLE lot better :-)
I get on on the road today so I know that it will be easy for me with no distractions!
Enjoy your Monday and have a blessed day.
Peace & Love.

My 10 day Juicing Challenge - Day 2
So let me give y'all an update on my Day 1 challenge. Lets just say when they said the first day was going to be challenging it def was. I felt my brain trying to understand what was going on. Not gonna lie I was totally craving A LOT of FOOD! but, I had to try my best to not break. But, if you feel like you need food, try first doing juicing twice a day and one meal. That should help you transition easier.
So here I am on my Day 2 juicing challenge. I prepared my morning juice: cucumber, strawberries and raspberries. It tastes delicious and I am hoping to get through the day especially since its my mothers birthday! YIKES.
Either way, I wanted to share with you some fruits and vegetable combinations. I will share with you a link that you may visit and I will post some images as well just so you can get a mental pic! Have fun and have a very great Saturday!

Changing your life for RECOVERY!
One of my biggest challenges has been weight loss. It never really has been a challenge because I was a pretty good decent weight, I am gorgeous and fabulous! LOL. But as I got older consumed with love of job and a new career I gained weight. I lost sight of my priority - ME. I started 2014 on a health challenge not just for a month or two but forever. My short term goal is to lose 50lbs by the end of the year. I have lost 7lbs but that is about it. I got a trainer but I have stopped that in March because of my interesting things that have popped up in my life, like a trip to Washington D.C. to hang out with President Obama and the Valor24 families.
As I am visited my parents in South Texas as did one of my older bros from West Texas. He shared something with me and my sister. A movie that inspired him to gain control of his life, weight and reboot his body.
I strongly encourage you to check this website out on "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead." This trailer below is about 5 minutes long but I promise its straight and to the point.
Now, many of you have been asking is juicing safe? What is juicing? How do you juice? Well, first of all you need to inquire you medical doctor before you proceed just to make sure. Then you need a juicer, and your vegetables and fruits. I am in a transition phase, I have incorporated one juice to replace one meal a day. I already portion my meals and well, my alcohol habits have been changed. Something I am very proud of. Now, this trailer is just five minutes. I strongly encourage you to watch the full movie. It is on Netflix. Watch it on your ipad, iphone, TV whatever but DO IT! I promise you, you will have an understanding and I hope will change your mind about the way you eat.
After watching this video that my brother really encouraged has motivated me to do the full 10 days. I am glad to say that I am starting a recovery and I am going to reboot my body. For those who know me, know that I do have some weird food allergies and a very sensitive stomach. So this experience is something I am really looking forward to doing. It's a 10 day juicing body detox. I am excited, I know it will not be easy but hey I have conquered far worse than juicing for 10 days.
CHEERS to continuing to enjoy a new health lifestyle! :-) and do not worry, I will keep you posted. I will try to document my 10 days through one blog post a day.
I just had to write and share this with you. Maybe you can join in on the fun and change your life for the best. Your body will thank you.
Peace and Love.

A Mothers Love
My mother is the most amazing woman I can ever have. God blessed me with a strong loving mother. She grounded me with conservative values. Teaches me everyday to keep doing good and make right decisions. I can recall a time in my youth when I rebelled against her. Those times I much regret being an ugly daughter but today thankful for she taught me that its important to respect myself and value myself. Proud that she was tough on me. It was then that I realized I had a lot to learn from her.– T. DeWitt Talmage
I have had my mistakes, my hurts, and my success but mother always has the right words to comfort me. She reminds me to always humble myself. She is the smartest woman I know. She gives me advice in all aspects of my life. As I spend time with my parents in South Texas and as the date gets closer to her birthday and Mothers Day I could not help but give her the praise she deserves. At times when my best friends are busy or occupied I always know that she is my number one. She comforts me, grounds me, and humbles me. She is my best friend, my everything.
I am prepared for my future especially of becoming a mother and I know that I will be ready to take on that task of motherhood because my heart is full of love ready to be given and shared.
Happy Birthday momma you raised one tough, caring, giving and loving woman!
Peace and Love!

Easter 2014
Three years ago my family lost my Grandfather De Leon on Easter Sunday 2012. It was very hard on me and for some of my family members. None the less, I was overcome with Peace of Heart that day. Didn't quite feel the pain or had time to mourn. Since his death, I have my moments. I have thoughts of how if possible things could be different. This year I was reminded that I should rejoice his death as I should rejoice for Jesus resurrection.
This Easter was more meaningful for me. That is not to say it never was but for me it was just different. As I sit here today I can't help but remember something of the many few conversations my Grandfather and I had. They were beautiful moments and memories. I will never forget. As I remembered my memories with him, I was drawn to how I have two grandmothers left, my maternal and paternal grandmothers. Both of them wonderful women with their distinct personalities. Both of them are very traditional and very conservative women, but I must say I laugh more with my Grandma Q. She gets my humor, my sarcasm and my sillyness :-) I just love her lots!
Easter at Grandma Q's house can't be expressed in words - we are just a crazy-fun bunch! I love each and every one of my aunts and uncles. Yesterdays Easter was the first time I had laughed so much. We are still a very much traditional family where the men are kings in my grandmothers home. As a Christian woman, my husband will be treated the same. Even though I am a very independent woman, I will submit myself to my husband as that is what the Lord calls on wives to do. I have great parents and an amazing mother so I will not have a problem in that area. None the less, Easter is my most favorite day of the year. For me it is the day Jesus has Risen! God is Alive! The beginning of a new life and my chance to continue to follow Him all the days of my life. I am one blessed little lady and I can't help to share with the world how much Love I have for Him and how thankful I am to God for letting His only Son die on the cross to save me for my sins. Thank Jesus! I love you :-)
Hope everyone has had a blessed weekend and wish nothing but the best for you and your families.

There is nothing wrong with ALWAYS being Thankful!
My Monday started off with some high winds, rain, and hail. YES, HAIL. I enjoyed watching mother nature from bedroom balcony as I enjoyed my morning coffee. Thankfully, I did not have to be on the road so earlier but had to take care of some work from home. As I stood by my balcony door looking out into the Colorado River, I could not just be so thankful and I consumed myself in that beauty of that moment.
You see everyone has a story. Everyone has been through something in their lives that either moves them to do more for the good or be content with what they have. Never in a million years would I have imagined my life to be so rewarding, loving, and full of joy.
I can remember when I worked at Burger King, at Bealls, at Autozone. Yes, at Autozone, and I do know about trucks, since I did have a Chevy Silverado 4x4 extended cab with mud tires. Yup, that was me and Old Sebastian, of which as retired to the comfort of my dads home. But all that I am today, my determination to keep doing good and working hard has def paid off. As my morning got going and the sun warming up the day, I was just consumed in getting some work done. It felt really good. I enjoy those days.
I didn't realize how fast time had past by. I forget I had invitation to catch up with a colleague. Not only that I got to see Senator Lucio and some other colleagues in the field at the same time. Being the young one is always interesting because I am surrounded by veterans in the industry and hearing their stories and how they started in Texas Government and Politics is what I honestly love to hear. We all can talk about work and the issues that are affecting the state but the most joyous times for me is listening how they got into government. Their stories were similar like mine, working for a legislative office and then transitioning out. I didn't find my story any different. Like the lady I met, she was one of the first Latina lobbyist in the state.
Like her I think our stories were similar. Entered into Texas Government at 19 and we haven't left. She chatted with me some of her most memorable moments and achievements. Her love of her community but most importantly her career. She gave me tips on how to stay grounded and keep the success going. It is powerful when a woman empowers another young woman. At times it easy for some women to not extend that arm or hand to someone and in my experience I have been blessed with women who inspire me each day to keep pushing forward and knowing that I have their support as I muddle through the world of politics and government. It is not an easy task, but I love it. I love the fact that knowledge is key but most importantly the relationships and friendships you establish. My parents always emphasized to be respectful and courteous to all. I am thankful for that. But, I am also more thankful in having such grand faith that my purpose in this world is far greater than my own understanding.
It is days like this Monday where I can appreciate and be thankful for all the blessings God has provided me with. My story is my own but being around those who share similar beginnings is always the story one can hear. Thank you! and watch out world Mari is coming through!

Runoff Elections in Texas, May 27th 2014
Been keeping up with elections lately? Well, I have been trying to keep up as well. Runoff Elections are coming up and there are some interesting races to keep an eye on.
Before I get in to that, let me remind you that you can register to vote. You may be eligible to vote in the runoff election if you register before April 28th, 2014 because you have to register 30 days prior to an election. So, if you take care of that soon you can vote in the Runoff and General election which is just as FUN!
Where can you register to vote? Go to your local elections office in your county. You can simply Google you elections office and get their phone number and call in for info or simply walk in to their building. Make sure you take your DL with you.
The Texas Tribune posted a list of those with runoff elections in Texas at all levels of government - feel free to follow their website, otherwise, see enclosed list by The Texas Tribune of which I love so much!
